Post Christmas Lunch 18th January at The Hand Hotel Chirk
On the 18th January 2025 we will be returning to The Hand in Chirk for our post Christmas Lunch. (As you can see from the photos down the page we all enjoyed it last time!) The price is from £21.95 for one course up to £32.95 for three courese and a copy of the menu can be viewed here. We are planning to hold a raffle, as this always proves popular, so if you have anything you wish to donate then it can be dropped off at the hotel before we start our walk.
27th-30th September 2024 – Rail Rambles went to the seaside!
Also to celebrate our 35th anniversary we planned a three night trip to Llandudno. This allowed us to do some stunning walks in an area which otherwise would be a bit of a stretch on our normal days out. We had such a good time, we would certainly love to go back so watch this space! Photographs of the weekend are being uploaded on to our gallery, with one page for each day. Please check them out.
6th July – Celebrating 35 years of Rail Rambles
After a shortish walk, we had a get together in All Stretton for those who had walked with us that day and in days gone by. A chance to catch up with old friends and to celebrate the not only our anniversary but the birthday of one of our regular walkers. It was great to see so many there, and for those who missed out this time we hope to see you at our next social occasion.
Charity fundraising
There are many ramblers who support charities through walking events and we would like to give them a boost on this page.
On May 25th John Mattocks took part in the Mighty Hike in Bangor, to raise money for Macmillan. He has so far raised £315 through sponsorship and Just Giving. If you would like to help boost this to an even bigger amount please click here for a link to his Just Giving page.
Shrewsbury Ramblers – 2025 short break
They are organising a 4 day walking break from the 13th October to the 17th October in Dogellau, staying at the HF house there. If this would be of interest to you please email barkhouse@talktalk.net for further details. (You do not have to be a member of the Shrewsbury Group but most likely will need to be a member of the Ramblers’.)
Post Christmas Lunch in Chirk January 2024
We had another lovely meal at The Hand in Chirk and were delighted to see so many there, including some who may not be coming out with us as regularly as they used to. A big thank you to Pat for all her hard work ensuring that we all got the meals we ordered and to Linda and Joan for organising a very successful raffle. You can see from the photos below that there were a lot of smiles (and clean plates!).
